Toji Temple (東寺), Kyoto
The tallest pagoda in Kyoto is quite a symbol in Kyoto, due to the height, you can see it from many places across the city. It’s also a UNESCO world heritage site.
Up close, it really is quite a sight. Within the compound, there’s a beautiful garden where you can take a slow walk and enjoy the view too.
We have so much fun exploring the temple. It’s quite a big compound, prepare about half to one hour to for this location.
Getting here
You can take a walk from Kyoto Station or Toji Station, ask the station staff for direction as they are very helpful and the direction is quite straight forward. I recommend getting there from Toji as the walk is shorter, about 5 minutes.
