Kiyomizu-dera (清水寺), in winter

Was visiting Kyoto earlier this year during the winter and Kiyomizu-dera is a destination I’m really looking forward to for that trip.

We took a bus 100 from Kyoto station if I remember correctly. Buses in Kyoto is generally quite tourist friendly, there is even a screen announcing what’s the attraction at the upcoming stop, and you pay only when you get off the bus. Upon alighting the bus, we make a 20 mins uphill walk to the temple. It’s quite a steep hill, so walk slowly if your fitness isn’t that good.

Upon reaching our destination, we are rewarded with one of the most amazing view in Kyoto.

If you plan explore the whole complex at a nice pace, set aside about 2 hours on location, it’s quite a big temple.
