There are no lack of great views of Kuala Lumpur skyline when you visit the capital of Malaysia, and nothing is complete without the tallest twin towers in the world, Petronas Twin Towers.
During my recent visit to the capital, I have only a day to get my best shot of the city. After some research, I decided the best view of the city with Petronas Twin Towers can only be taken with a stay in the Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur. It's pretty hard or not possible at all to get an unblock view of the architecture due to the many tall buildings that surrounds the skyscraper. Some of the rooms at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur comes with an unblock view of the skyscraper as the hotel is facing the skyscraper with a 17 acres KLCC Park in-between.
A little about the hotel. It is actually a hotel brand from the Shangri-La group so you know you will be getting a level of service and experience. On their website, They mentioned they have "the best panoramic view of the Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC Park and the city's skyline", I couldn't agree more.
For rooms with Twin Towers view, they are charged slightly higher, you have to pay for the view here. The Deluxe Room that I stayed is pretty decent sized, the level of service is expected of a 5-stars hotel from Shangri-La.
A buggy service is provide for the guest of the hotel to Twin Towers, for those who prefer to stretch their legs after a long flight, the Twin Towers is only about 10 mins walk away.
To chill out in the evening or just a swim at their pool, head to their award wining Sky Bar on the 33th floor. You can take a swim during the operation hour of the indoor pool.
The unblock view of the skyline from our room is fantastic, and there's a sense of relief that the weather is also on my side.
If you are planing to photographed the skyline in landscape format with the Twin Towers in frame, prepare an Ultra Wide Angle lens. I have trouble getting the Twin Towers fit inside a 24mm full frame equivalent focal length as you can see from the time-lapse video I've taken with my Canon M6 with EFM-15-45mm IS STM lens.
I have great time photographing the fantastic view from my hotel room on the first day but the moment comes unexpectedly the next morning. I wasn't expecting much initially due to the position of the sunrise so was planing for a time-lapse of the city.
Little did I know that one of the best sunrise happened that morning... As the sky starts to turn purple hue before my very eyes, I immediately ditch the plan for a time-lapse and prepare for photographing instead.
As I'm looking through the photographs I've taken that morning back home, I realised how lucky I am as only one photo of the sky I capture gives me the hue that you see above. The change of colours happened so fast that I have only got a single frame with this beautiful hue!
